Senior management appointments jet in at Newcastle International Airport

Newcastle International Airport Ltd has announced the appointment of two additions to its senior management team.

Nick Jones joins as Finance Director on 15 June. This is an executive, board level appointment, and Nick brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous role as Chief Financial Officer at Aesica Pharmaceuticals, and before that PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Nick replaces departing director Simon Fisher, who has left to take up the role of Finance Director at Banks Group.

John Irving joins as Business Development Director, also on 15 June. John joins the airport from Newcastle United Football Club where he held the post of Finance Director for seven years, and before that Proctor and Gamble.

David Laws, Chief Executive at Newcastle International Airport, said: “These appointments have been made at an important time in the development of the airport.

“Passenger numbers are growing, and the business is performing strongly, making Newcastle International one of the most successful regional airports in the UK.

“The Airport has won a number of awards for customer service and we have almost completed a £14M transformation of the departure lounge.

“Now is the right time to strengthen and diversify our senior team. I have worked closely with Simon Fisher over a number of years and I would like to thank Simon for the fantastic contribution he has made to the business.

“In Nick Jones we have secured the right person to fill this important role and ensure that we take the business even further forward.

“The creation of a new Business Development Director role is a signal of our intention to continue to expand the business, and diversify further. John Irving has an excellent track record at the football club and I am confident he will be a strong addition to the team.”
