Nest.co.uk Furnish New Show Flat at Park Hill

~~ Modern design and furniture retailer Nest.co.uk have unveiled their latest commercial project which saw them design the show flats of the iconic Park Hill project in Sheffield.

The retailer, which was commissioned to work on the scheme by award winning property developer Urban Splash, has been established online since 2001 and has a showroom close to the city centre.

A total of £18 million has been spent developing the 182 homes that make up the second phase of the regeneration project – all of which boast duplex flats with balconies. The commercial space is also home to some of the city’s creative companies, as well as regional events including Sheffield Design Week.

Nest.co.uk’s New Business Development Manager Tom Crookes was responsible for overseeing the two-bedroom show flat design, which was officially opened to the public last weekend. Statement pieces include the Hay Mags Sofa, Muuto Visu Chair, Kristalia Poule Tip-up Top Table Round, plus contemporary lighting and accessories.

Tom Crookes from Nest.co.uk said: “Park Hill is an iconic landmark; not only for us in Sheffield, but for many who take a particular interest in architecture and design across Europe.

“Urban Splash wanted to create a new mid-century modern quarter of Sheffield; regenerating this once revolutionary living space and making it somewhere people and businesses want to be.

“Similarly, Nest.co.uk is focused on innovation, individuality and creativity, so we were delighted to take on the project.

“Our brief was to use contemporary furniture, lighting and accessories to create a functional home. Were absolutely delighted with the outcome, as well as the public reaction we received when the doors were opened for the first time last weekend.“

The second phase of Park Hill is a joint venture between Urban Splash and Places for People, one of the largest property and leisure management, development and regeneration companies in the UK.

Toni Sanderson, Nest.co.uk’s Marketing & Operations Director who grew up in Sheffield, said: “This is a fantastic project for Nest.co.uk to have been involved in – showcasing the wonderful range of designer furniture that we stock which is adaptable to a whole host of living spaces; from urban flats to country manors.

“This regeneration marks an historic moment for Sheffield, and we’re proud to be rooted here.

“Personally, it’s also been quite an exciting and emotional time for me. My Papa worked on the original Park Hill build, and my Nana & Grandad opened their first salon here in the 1960s. It’s great to see it being transformed back in to a vibrant living space for families and young professionals.“
