Your Housing Group donates to Fire Fighters Charity
Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest social housing providers, has presented a cheque for £5,000 to The Fire Fighters Charity in appreciation of their rapid response by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service to the fire at their Sydenham House tower block in Sefton Park, Liverpool last month.
Howard Cover, Head of Merseyside South at Your Housing Group, said: “We can’t thank Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service enough for their help last month. Not only did they respond incredibly quickly to the immediate incident but they have offered continued support to ensure Sydenham House and other similar properties remain safe for our residents to live in. This donation is just a small token of our appreciation.“
The Fire Fighters Charity is an independent charity that was set up 75 years ago after the Blitz out of a desire to help wounded firefighters and provide support to their families during World War II. Their purpose remains the same, to help members of the fire and rescue community who put their lives on the line every day to save others, whilst providing support for their families. They also help retired fire fighters and ensure they are looked after for the rest of their lives.
Alan Knell, Regional fundraising officer for the North West and Northern Ireland for The Fire Fighters Charity said: “It costs £8m a year to keep the charity going so this donation is brilliant. We support all fire services but Merseyside is one of the larger ones, who do an amazing job. We’re very grateful to Your Housing Group, not only for the cheque but also for helping us raise our profile and generate even more much needed funds.“
