Newcastle clinics join forces with Jesmond physiotherapy service

Two Newcastle businesses have joined forces to launch a new sports injury and physiotherapy service in Jesmond.

From the start of June, Newcastle Sports Injury Clinic will launch a new satellite treatment centre at the headquarters of MRI scan specialists Newcastle Clinic, on Towers Avenue in Jesmond.

Newcastle Sports Injury Clinic, based on Saville Place in Newcastle city centre, is renting the additional treatment space at Newcastle Clinic in order to expand its offering and to help make its services accessible to even more people.

Shaun Fryer, managing director at Newcastle Clinic, said: “This is a natural fit for us and adds to the services that are being offered from our premises.

“We have worked closely with Newcastle Sports Injury Clinic for a number of years, referring patients to each other where appropriate. We knew it was looking for an out-of-town base to complement its existing treatment centre in the city centre, so it seemed like a natural move.”

Karen Dearden, from Newcastle Sports Injury Clinic, said: “We are delighted to be opening this new treatment centre. We have been looking to expand our business and to make our services more accessible to a greater number of people.

“We treat a lot of customers from across the North East – and beyond – and being able to offer our patients the choice of treatment centre is an advantage.

“Our services complement the diagnostic work that Shaun Fryer and the team do at Newcastle Clinic and we are confident that this move will be beneficial for both businesses.”

Newcastle Clinic has been operating since 2007 and is home to the only open-sided MRI scanner in the north of England and Scotland. It also carries out imaging services such as x-ray, image intensifying and ultrasound.

Newcastle Sports Injury Clinic was founded in 1997 and was previously based at the City Pool in Newcastle. From its Saville Place headquarters, it offers a wide range of physiotherapy and sports injury treatments and works closely with both universities in Newcastle.
