Barratt Homes 1,000th Help to Buy success

The Group Chief Executive of Barratt Homes visited Yorkshire to celebrate the announcement that the house builder has reached its 1,000th purchase via the Help to Buy scheme in the county.

The Barratt Yorkshire West and Barratt Yorkshire East divisions – which have a number of sites across the region – have seen huge success with the scheme, which helps first time buyers and existing homeowners purchase a home with deposits as low as 5%.

Help to Buy’s popularity in Yorkshire has been reflected in Barratt’s Yorkshire West development The Foundry in Wakefield, where purchases using the scheme are at an incredible 90%, Vision in Keighley where 50% of the properties have been bought using Help to Buy and St Andrew’s View in Morley, Leeds, which has a 52% Help To Buy rate.

In Hull, Barratt Yorkshire East has seen a huge 48% of homes snapped up via the scheme in its Aspire, Liberty Green and The Sidings developments, while at Mowbray Park in Northallerton, 38% of all properties have been purchased through Help to Buy.

Mark Clare, Chief Executive at Barratt Homes, recently visited Barratt Yorkshire West’s Renaissance site in Waverley, Rotherham, which launched earlier this year, to mark the success of the buying scheme across the region.

He said:

“It’s great to see that Help To Buy has helped 1,000 people in Yorkshire to reserve new homes. Many are first-time buyers, but there are others trading up to accommodate growing families and we’re pleased we’ve been able to help so many achieve this.

“I was really impressed by the work currently being undertaken at Renaissance. The development represents Barratt Homes’ commitment to providing more housing across the region without compromising on quality or design.

Ian Ruthven, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, commented:

“Reaching our 1,000th Help to Buy purchase in the region is testament to the growing popularity of the scheme in Yorkshire. It’s fantastic that Help to Buy is continuing to provide affordable mortgages for local people who might not have been able to purchase a home otherwise.”

Paul Newman, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Yorkshire East, added:

“Help to Buy has been hugely popular in Yorkshire. Whether its first time buyers looking to purchase their first house or existing homeowners who want to move up the property ladder, we are delighted that the Help to Buy scheme is helping local families find their perfect home.”
