Approved: Planning for 100 studio apartments in Liverpool

Accommodation for 100 city centre workers will be created in a new development situated in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic district.

The 100 studio apartments will be contained within a building between seven and nine storeys in height on land between Norfolk Street, Watkinson Street and Simpson Street.

The proposals, put forward by the Elliot Group, have been designed by architects Falconer Chester Hall, and were approved by Liverpool City Council.

Elliot Lawless of the Elliot Group, said: `We are looking forward to commencing work on this site in the very near future and are appreciative for the support of the local authority in allowing that to happen.

“The design of the building is of the highest quality and we firmly believe that attracting people to the area will only be good for the local economy in the Baltic Triangle.’

Director at Falconer Chester Hall, Alastair Shepherd, said: `We are delighted to have gained consent for a scheme which will help in the development of the Baltic Triangle.

“This scheme will bring new people into the area who will help support existing businesses and bring vitality.

“It also gives the option for workers to live in the mixed use area they have helped to create.

“We looked carefully at the history of the site, at what makes the area unique and have tried to weave this into the façade of the building, with patterned balconies and ornamental metalwork reflecting the creative output of local companies.”
