Work begins at £130m Heap’s Mill development in Liverpool
The final phase of preparations for the £130m Heap’s Mill redevelopment on Liverpool’s southern waterfront is underway.
Construction is expected to begin soon.
The scheme, by local developer Elliot Group, will see the construction of 800 new homes and 12,000 sq ft of leisure and retail units, ranged around a new public space called Baltic Square.
Liverpool-based contractors CCG have been awarded a £100k contract to undertake final ground investigations on the site, which borders Liverpool’s World Heritage zone.
Planning permission for the scheme was granted in October 2014.
Developer Elliot Lawless said: “This is an important step forward as we finalise the details of the full construction programme.
“We’ve come quite a way in a relatively short space of time thanks to the encouragement of Liverpool City Council and I’m looking forward to confirming final construction timescales in the near future.”
