Cash funding puts spring into Gymnasts’ steps
A gymnastics club on Warne Road, Weston has been gifted £950 towards the cost of funding a full-size sprung floor.
J21 Gymnastics received the donation from Persimmon Homes Severn Valley; as part of the builder’s Community Champions initiative.
Since the club was taken over almost two years ago by new management, the club has gone from strength to strength and now welcomes over 250 children and adults every week. The full-size spring floor will enable all of the club’s gymnasts to train floor and tumbling skills in a safe and competitive set-up.
Abbie Chetland, xx from J21 Gymnastics, said: “‘We’re over the moon with the donation made by Persimmon Homes. It’s the final part of the sum we need to buy a full-size spring floor that will radically improve our current facilities. This is something our membership will greatly benefit from whether they train one or 16 hours a week.”
Nicola Reed, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley said the Community Champions initiative was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company works.
She said: “We are so pleased to hand over this donation to J21 Gymnastics. It was clear just how important this group is to the local community and it seemed fitting we did what we could to support them.”
The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
Nationwide the company will donate a total of £750,000.
Nicola added: “We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding, and we’re urging groups and charities to apply for next month’s donation by completing an online form.”
