Alnwick fishing company nets landmark US distribution deal

Fishing tackle brand LYNX Fishing is diving into the North American market after securing an exclusive multimillion-dollar deal with a leading distributor.

The Alnwick-based company has struck a lucrative agreement with American Fishing Wire, a prominent US wire producer.

Affording the modern angler the most reliable and flexible connection structure available, LYNX’s Precision System is earmarked for launch in the US market this autumn.

The Precision System is comprised of two formats - Precision Compression Technology, and Helix Technology. A joining technique linking line and hook without the need for a knot or a crimp, the patented Precision Compression Technology lies at the heart of the Precision System.

And new for 2015, is LYNX’s Helix Technology – designed to obtain 100% line strength for the angler using braid.

LYNX, a subsidiary of Tyne Valley-based supply chain management company GMS, finalised the deal with AFW on the back of a successful marketing trial in the US last month.

LYNX Managing Director Andrew Petherick was delighted to put pen to paper on the agreement with AFW.

He said: “I’m really excited to be working with AFW on the launching of the LYNX Precision System in North America. The deal gives us access to as many as 15,000 retail outlets in a key market.

“Their professionalism and product range compliment the way we do business perfectly. We have spent a lot of time refining our offering for the market in the US.

“The performance of the Precision System together with AFW’s series of wire, line and leader products is mind-blowing, and will impress anybody who sees it in action. We are set to make a significant impact.

“After a market seeding trip in May 2015, the feedback was unanimous – the American market is very ready for the LYNX Precision System.”

Headquartered in Valley Township, Philadelphia, AFW offers the largest selection of wire, line and leader products in the US, all produced on home soil.

AFW’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mike Shields, believes that the LYNX brand is well-placed to capture the imagination of the American angling community.

He said: “American Fishing Wire is proud to be the exclusive distributor of the LYNX Precision System for North America. LYNX’s Precision Compression Technology is a ground-breaking concept, and it represents a giant leap forward for assembling rigs and leaders.

“We are excited to deliver the LYNX range of tools, components, and rigs to our broad network of tackle manufacturers, distributors, and dealers.

“Shawn Carpenter, experienced fisherman and AFW Sales Executive, has been appointed the brand manager for LYNX in North America. Andy Petherick, inventor of the LYNX Hand Tool and components, is a true visionary. He is the Steve Jobs of the tackle industry.

“The innovative LYNX Hand Tool and components fit our complete range of monofilament, braid, fluorocarbon, wire and cable and offer stronger connections than traditional knots and sleeves.

“AFW will be stocking a wide range of LYNX products. We are accepting orders now for shipments that will begin in the autumn, and customers can combine LYNX products with their normal range of AFW & HI-SEAS goods.”

Steve Miller, Sales Director at AFW, added: “We are excited about our partnership with LYNX. The industry knows AFW as being a supplier of premium fishing tackle, and the LYNX brand offers top-quality products which fits well with our current offering.”
