Darlington Council goes casual Citizens Advice
Staff at Darlington Borough Council dressed casual last Friday (June 19) to kick off Darlington Citizens Advice Bureau’s Get Casual for CAB campaign.
Businesses are urged to take part in the main event on Friday, July 17 to raise money for Darlington CAB.
The Get Casual for CAB campaign will see a multitude of local businesses taking part in a dress-up or dress-down day as well as other activities such as cake and book sales.
Last year, the businesses and organisations that took part raised more than £800 collectively - a target the charity hopes to beat this year.
The money raised at events across the town will go towards ensuring that Darlington CAB – which no long receives funding from central government – can continue to provide free legal and financial advice to the residents of area.
In 2014 Darlington CAB dealt with more than £8 million worth of debt, and assisted clients to ascertain over £4 million worth of unclaimed benefits and is expected to deal with even more this year.
The charity’s chief executive, Neeraj Sharma, said he was delighted to have so many businesses taking part, adding: “The demand for our services has continued to grow year on year and we need to ensure we have the funds in place to be able to help those who require our assistance.”
If your workplace would like to take part in Get Casual for CAB, get in touch with the bureau on 01325 256999 or visit DarlingtonCAB.co.uk
