Gas maintenance contract for HMS

Merseyside based Home Maintenance Solutions (HMS) has been awarded the contract to carry out gas servicing and maintenance for Liverpool social landlord Steve Biko Housing Association.

The contract will see HMS, a division of Liverpool Mutual Homes, providing services to the housing association’s 240 homes.

As well as servicing gas appliances, carrying out maintenance and providing an emergency breakdown response, they will also test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

HMS will utilize its technology-first approach to gas servicing to make it more efficient for tenants and the housing association.

Having equipped all front-line staff with tablets, PDAs and mobile devices that use Skype software, calls can be relayed to head office to find immediate solutions.

Hand-held printers allow gas engineers to print certificates in customers’ homes once the work is completed to considerably reduce administration costs.

Contracts Manager at HMS, Paul Clarke, said: “This is another local housing provider we are pleased to be working with to provide gas servicing and maintenance in addition to the 15,000 homes we deliver services for currently.

“It is another positive step for the business and we will be using the same professional approach that has been so successful for us over many years.

“This will allow us to keep gas appliances working at their optimum all year round and minimise disruption for customers.

“Homes will be warm and safe as well as being energy efficient to help tackle fuel poverty among customers and reduce the organisation’s carbon footprint.”

Steve Biko Housing Association has properties in Toxteth, Sefton Park, Kensington, and Wavertree.
