Sutcliffe Construction supports local primary with new kit!

Leading North Yorkshire-based construction company Sutcliffe Construction has funded the first ever school-branded sports kit for Kirkby Malham primary.

Assistant head teacher Amanda Allen says the new kit of t-shirts, shorts and socks will bring a sense of ‘pride and identity’ to the 45 pupils aged four to 11 as they enter sporting events in the North Craven Cluster.

Sutcliffe Construction has a long-term connection with the school. Founder David Sutcliffe attended in the 1950s, his daughter was a pupil in the 80s and the children of director Sam Allen are pupils today.

The company has donated the £500 needed to provide the unisex sports kit in the school’s red and gold colours alongside plain red t-shirts for the younger children in class one.

“This is the first time we’ve ever received outside support for the school’s sports kit and this will be the first time we’ve ever had a kit that’s brand new for our younger children,” said Mrs Allen. “Our last kit lasted six years and was sourced through an initiative to collect bottle tops!

“We’re so excited and appreciative to be having something that’s so professional looking and of such fantastic quality. And it’s lovely to have the support of former pupils from the 50s’s and 80’s – our very own alumni making a tangible difference to the future of a new generation of Kirkby Malham Primary pupils!”

Sutcliffe Construction based in Skipton, was founded by David Sutcliffe in 1975 and is a principal contractor and expert steel frame fabricator which specialises in commercial and industrial builds in the north of England and beyond. It believes in building smart to add value, forging successful partnerships and creating a finished product that exceeds expectations. The team designed and built the iconic Ilkley Rugby Club in 2011 and has recently completed builds for multinationals Cinetic Landis and Aggregate Industries, as well as local firms Advanced Component Technology, Byworth Boilers and Crown Paints.

David Sutcliffe said: “Kirkby Malham Primary has a special place in the heart of two generations of the Sutcliffe family and of our close knit construction team. As sports lovers ourselves, we thought it would be fitting to support the school by funding a new, branded kit. We understand the importance of taking pride in your identity so we’re delighted with the quality of the kit and to have our logo alongside the school name that’s being worn by a new generation of KiM children!”
