Doncaster pie maker’s recipe headed for garden centre food hall

The Topping Pie Company, a Doncaster-based bakery, has been selected as a supplier to the food hall of a family run garden centre in the North West of England.

Bents Garden & Home, based in Warrington, will now be retailing a range of gourmet pies, speciality cold cutting pies and quiche from The Topping Pie Company.

The Topping Pie Company produces handcrafted pies and quiche at the South Yorkshire bakery with Maggie Topping’s family recipes, which only uses British Red Tractor pork and high quality ingredients.

Bents’ new 10,000 sq ft food hall features an extensive range of speciality foods, ingredients and freshly sourced products from both local and international suppliers with real provenance.

As part of the retailer’s future expansion plans, the food hall will include a fresh deli, tapas bar, patisserie, bakery, fruit and veg, wine concession and butchers concession.

Founder Roger Topping and his son Matthew have informed the Bents retail staff about the story behind the products, and trained them on how to cut and merchandise the pies in-store.

Bents will be retailing Toppings gourmet pies, including premium steak, steam mushroom and shallot, peppered chicken and smoked ham and award winning pork pies, including Scrumpy, Yorkshire Farmers, Game Pie, Huntsman, Chilli Pork Pie and a range of Dinky Topped pork pies.
