Telecoms specialists take to the saddle

A peloton of 22 cyclists will be giving it some pedal power this weekend as they take on a mammoth charity cycle challenge.

The team of Rossington Wheelers will be setting off at 6am on Sunday 12th July from Finningley and cycling to Flamborough Head and back - in all aid of Brain Tumour Research.

The 175 mile bike ride will take the men and women in the region of 11 hours to complete (depending on conditions) and they aim to raise £3000 for the charity researching the biggest cancer killer of the UK.

Two members of the group taking on the cycle with a climb of 1477ft are Ben and Martin from Doncaster based 8Point8 Support - a company specialising in telecoms, renewable energy and the broadcasting sectors nationally.

Ben Eaves, senior project engineer for the company said: “ We have been in training for this cycle for a couple of months now and we are all really excited about getting started and raising money for such a worthy cause.

“This will be my furthest cycle to date and really looking forward to challenging myself and ultimately helping to contribute to our team total of £3000 for a type of cancer research that has impacted thousands of families in the UK and still only gets 1% of the national spend on cancer research.”
