Hull’s CDS Energy Services joins Humber firms to launch C2O alliance

CDS Energy Services has teamed up with two other Humber businesses to launch a new collaboration aimed at cutting supply chain costs, primarily in the oil and gas sector.

The Hull-based specialist has partnered with On Line Design and Engineering and Optis Europe to offer a cost-saving solution to Operating Client Companies in the brownfield oil and gas market worldwide.

Over the past 10 years, the three companies have worked together and delivered around £400m worth of projects, but the trio has now launched the C2O alliance to provide a one-stop solution for the delivery of brownfield projects and reduce the reliance on management contractors.

Glenn Sibbick, business development director at CDS, said: “The C2O alliance has not only established an opportunity to reduce the cost of asset-life solutions, it has also created an opportunity for single point accountability in the supply chain.

“CDS is delighted to be a key part of this collaboration and we look forward to working closely with On Line and Optis Europe to lead the way in offering pioneering solutions to the oil and gas industry worldwide, right here from the Humber region. Despite our primary focus being on the oil and gas sector, we are already talking to a number of Operating Client Companies across many other sectors as we believe the model we have in place provides benefits to many industries.”

The C20 alliance model is designed to reduce the overall cost to the client, increase the quality of delivery through collaborative working and provide the right solution from the outset.

Optis Europe, working with both On Line and CDS, will carry out the solutions development stage which, once agreed, will be fully designed by On Line.

CDS can then progress the project through fabrication (both on and off site) and undertake the construction phase. Commissioning and hook-up will be undertaken by all parties with operational handover fulfilled by Optis.

Mr Sibbick said: “In some ways it’s bordering on common sense – there is absolutely no doubt we are stronger together. Sometimes, the realisation of true value only occurs in the face of adversity and we all need to think differently and identify areas to reduce cost and increase value when the market has been exposed to financial pressures with the price of oil plummeting.

“The relationship brings benefits beyond cost reduction, however. The management of projects is improved through linear collaboration and aligned problem solving.

“The venture brings together knowledge, capability and experience for every stage of brownfield projects, not only as service providers, but also through intuitive owner operational experience offered by senior project staffs at C2O who have more than 100 years’ experience in senior client roles.

“The collaboration offers an opportunity to work together with our clients, delivering solutions without compromise to safety, process or the quality of execution.”
