Recognition for School Ambassadors
Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College are recognised for their year-long contribution and volunteering as ‘Stand Up, Speak Out, Make A Difference’ (SUSOMAD) Anne Frank Ambassadors during an awards evening.
19 year nine students received a trophy to mark their collaboration with The Anne Frank Trust and the Diversity and Cohesion Team at Bradford Council, to promote Ann Frank’s life, philosophy and ideas, challenging prejudice and race hatred.
The students received training throughout their year of volunteering which enabled them to share Anne’s life with their peers and primary schools around the city educating people about the damage caused by all forms of prejudice and discrimination.
14 year old student and volunteer Tammanah Begum says: “To participate was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel extremely proud that I have been recognised in my community for making a difference to today’s society.”
Joseph Bell, lead teacher in the project at Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College says: “Taking part in this activity has increased the students’ confidence. Belief in their own ability has been challenged as well as learning about themselves, their place in society, and within the world itself. It’s been an all round fantastic experience for them.”
