Preston supply chain company lands £250k for growth and job creation

A North West supply chain firm has managed to secure a £250k loan from Lancashire-based Rosebud Finance, in a bid to unlock further growth and create employment opportunities.

Preston’s DNA Agile, which assists advanced manufacturers in developing and improving their supply chain performance, plans on using the new funds to invest in research and create six jobs between now and 2021.

Rosebud, a finance package that aims to stimulate business growth in Lancashire, is managed by Enterprise Ventures for the county council’s economic development firm Lancashire County Developments Ltd (LCDL).

The LCDL chair, County councillor Niki Penney said: “Rosebud aims to bring new jobs and growth to the Lancashire economy by supporting ambitious growing companies.

“We’re pleased that Rosebud has been able to provide DNA Agile with the finance they need to grow their core business through new research and development.

She added: “We’ve identified advanced manufacturing as a key high-growth sector. DNA Agile helps companies in this sector to develop and improve their supply chain, which will in turn benefit those companies.”

The founders of the company, Mark Hughes and Phil Jones, launched DNA Agile eight years ago as a supply chain consultancy, going on to acquire software firms Redthorn and Aventa in 2012.

Today, DNA Agile provides support to more than 250 enterprises and covers a number of business sectors. It has a partnership with Canada’s Manitoba Aerospace and maintains ongoing collaborative efforts with the University of Liverpool.

Enterprise Ventures’ Paul Taberner said: “The success of DNA Agile highlights Lancashire’s strengths in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing sector. This investment will allow the directors to focus on developing their core business.”
