Warrington marketing company sees profits grow following business advice
A digital marketing firm based in Warrington has doubled its turnover and profits after calling in the help of the Business Doctors advice network.
Dreamscape, which operates from the Thelwall area of the town, has recorded a 250% increase in profit and and 210% rise in turnover since it first called in Congleton-based business doctor Kevin Cook three years ago. During the period, Dreamscape also managed to double the number of people it employs.
Discussing the obstacles he faced in the startup phase, Dreamscape’s founder, Bernard McCabe, said: “Clients were beating a path to our door. But what soon became clear was that, whilst I was a skilled marketer, I wasn’t, at that point, a skilled business person with a long-term plan.
“Before long, my shortcomings as a businessman were outstripping my skills as a designer and marketer. Cash flow was a problem despite the level of demand for our services.”
Bernard established the company 11 years ago as a one-man operation, having already worked with brands such as the NHS, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Nissan, Mercedes and Peugeot. The staff count soon rose to four as the company coped with an increasing demand for its services.
After a recommendation from a client, Bernard contacted the Cheshire branch of the Business Doctors support network and enlisted the help of Kevin Cook, who worked with Dreamscape over the ensuing months to implement a new business plan.
Bernard commented: “Within six months we saw a huge difference in our business. With Kevin’s help we started to set and achieve targets. The business built up a cash reserve and we saw profits rise.
“Within 18 months we had rebuilt the business and were growing again, and quickly. But this time, we had a plan, a vision and goals to achieve. Since then, we have seen year-on-year growth, we are now a team of eight in larger offices with a bigger client base.”
