Edison Award received by OneMBA alumnus
Erik Wellen, OneMBA alumnus and partner at Parhelion, laser technology company, has received the Golden Award at this year’s Edison Awards, in New York. The award was given in recognition of Parhelion’s innovative laser-based light bulb.
Parhelion’s LDG (Laser Diffraction Grating) light bulb was named Gold Award Winner in the Health, Safety and Emergency Response category. The Awards recognize and honour innovation and excellence in the development, marketing and launch of new products and services.
The light bulb, a continuous laser-based light with passive cooling, took three years to develop and is designed for navigating through smoke, light congested areas and turbid environments that obscure visibility.
‘Laser-twins’ Jim and Richard Redpath launched Parhelion in 2012, aiming to integrate laser technologies into everyday life. Erik Wellen from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) Global Executive OneMBA Class of 2005 is CCO and partner at the laser technology company. Wellen’s expertise as a serial entrepreneur, senior market maker and branding expert contribute to the new technology company’s revenue growth.
The OneMBA alumnus is a key part of the three-headed management team, as the three executives’ diversity and experience contribute to Parhelion’s global success.
Erik Wellen says: “Both my law degree and OneMBA degree from RSM have given me great and useful insights that I can apply on a daily basis when building new businesses or taking existing business into new geographical territories.”
