Jobs lost as event firm GovToday ceases trading
GovToday, the events and online publishing firm headquartered in Salford Quays, has ceased trading, with all 22 jobs at the company lost.
Insolvency practitioner Steven Wiseglass of Manchester-based accountancy Inquesta has been instructed by the company’s directors to place the firm into liquidation.
Despite receiving more than £1m in investment since 2013 and a round of cost cutting that slashed the firm’s workforce by 50%, the company’s trading losses increased while costs also soared.
Steven, a director at Inquesta, said: “GovToday had a good core business and the quality of its conferences was extremely high.
“However, its financial position became untenable and regrettably this has resulted in it being unable to continue to trade. I will now be looking to sell all or some of the company’s assets.”
Based at MediaCityUK, GovToday was founded seven years ago by its directors, Rob Hollis, Richard Taylor and Tony Farrar. It organised conferences for both the not-for-profit and public sectors, generating revenues by attracting commercial sponsors.
