United Airlines celebrates 20th anniversary of Manchester to Newark service

United Airlines has marked 20 years since it first started offering flights from Manchester to New York.

Monday (July 20) saw the airline celebrating two decades of flights between Manchester Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport on the other side of the Atlantic.

Manchester Airport’s commercial director, Stephen Turner, commented: “We would like to congratulate United Airlines on reaching this fantastic milestone of 20 years’ service to New York.

“Through their daily New York and Washington D.C. services, United provide our passengers with the opportunity to fly direct to these two hugely popular destinations as well as the ability to connect onto their extensive route network.”

The airline offers the Manchester to Newark service with its fleet of Boeing 757-200 aircraft, each of which features 16 flat-bed seats in business class and 153 in economy.

The managing director of sales for United Airlines in the UK and Ireland, Bob Schumacher, said: “United is proud to celebrate 20 years of service from Manchester, and we would like to thank our customers and the local travel trade community for their continuing support.

“Our daily nonstop service offers customers in the North West access not only to New York City but also to hundreds of other destinations throughout the Americas via United’s Newark Liberty hub.”
