New chief executive appointed at Alexandra Palace to drive forward regeneration plans
Alexandra Palace is set to welcome Louise Stewart as new chief executive to drive through ambitious restoration and regeneration plans.
Louise will take the helm at ‘Ally Pally’ this autumn, arriving as work gets underway on a £28m project to restore the historic Victorian theatre as a cultural venue
Louise has previously held roles at several major arts and regeneration programmes including Sage Gates, Hadrian’s Wall and Alnwick Garden.
In her most recent position as Director of Strategy and Deputy CEO at VisitEngland, Louise has been responsible for a wide range of work, including securing £40m funding from the Regional Growth Fund for a three-year programme of tourism investment across England.
Haringey Council Leader Claire Kober said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Louise to Alexandra Palace at such a significant time.
“Louise comes with a wealth of talent, experience and knowledge and I’ve no doubt that she will be an enormous asset to the borough and to our ambition to see Alexandra Palace fulfil its potential as one of London’s most significant and successful landmark destinations.”
Cllr Joanna Christophides, Chair of the Alexandra Palace and Park Board, said: “We were hugely impressed by Louise’s vision, imagination and ambition for Alexandra Palace and look forward to working alongside her and local people as together we deliver an exciting future for Ally Pally.”
In March, the arts and entertainment venue secure £18.8m Heritage Lottery Fund support to contribute towards its ongoing regeneration.
