Zonegreen is hit with SSIP
Sheffield rail technology specialist, Zonegreen, is joining a select group of industry suppliers whose health and safety capabilities have earned official recognition.
The depot protection expert has been awarded Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) certification, enabling buyers to verify its delivery credentials with an independent body.
Zonegreen’s membership of the scheme is based on ISO 9001 registration and demonstrates its current health and safety regime meets the SSIP benchmark. The firm will now undertake annual independent audits to ensure its practises remain in line with established UK accreditation service standards.
Achieving SSIP certification gives Zonegreen a competitive advantage, streamlining the tendering process and reducing the costs associated with pre-qualification paperwork.
Christian Fletcher, Zonegreen’s technical director, said: “In an industry where poor health and safety can result in loss of life, it is only right that suppliers must reach a recognised level of competence before tendering for work. SSIP certification is essentially a license to do business with rail operators and the main contractors they appoint. It underlines our commitment to improving conditions not only for our personnel, but also for the depot maintenance staff working in these dangerous environments every day.”
