North East fashionista styles Victoria Secret Angel in multi-million pound global campaign

A North East stylist and fashion studio owner beat off competition from around the world to style Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima for a multi-million pound international advertising campaign.

Nisha Vedhara, who runs Love Niche Studio in Newcastle upon Tyne, was selected as the lead fashion consultant for the Veet Naturals multi-media Moments of Beauty promotion, shot in Istanbul.

Nisha has been helping women to look their best for a decade and also designs her own fashion line, which is sold globally. She was chosen as part of a A-list team that included director Andreas Hallberg, whose CV includes work with Gucci, Perrier and Lexus, and fashion photographer Vincent Peters, who has shot Gwyneth Paltrow, David Beckham, Giselle and Cindy Crawford.

Nisha was invited by the Veet team to pitch for the project, which involved creating a look for the advert with clothing, jewellery, hair and make-up.

She had to sign a non-disclosure agreement and wasn’t even able to discuss the details of the highly confidential project with members of her own team. She spent almost a month creating detailed design and mood boards before jetting out to Istanbul ahead of the shoot – only to arrive in thick snow, which meant she had to start styling again from scratch while on location.

Nisha said: “As the shoot was planned for outdoors, all the plans had to be redone due to snow. Of course that also meant the styling plan and that was the start of 16 hour days on average for next five days.”

Because the locations had to be changed, it was back to the drawing board to create new looks for Adriana. Nisha had just two days to come up with the goods and designed two new dresses which were made in less than 24 hours. She also had to hit the shops to find outfits for other scenes but having been part of a trade delegation to Istanbul last year, knew where to find the city’s top retailers.

Her connections meant she was also able to have a bespoke rose gold and diamond bracelet bearing the Veet logo specially made at speed for the shoot.

As part of her role, Nisha was in charge of styling Adriana for press-calls, a Vogue magazine party and interviews with bloggers. The Brazilian model wore Nisha’s own fur coat during the hectic round and loved a burnt orange silk pashmina from the Love Niche Studio in Newcastle so much, she now owns it.

The result of Nisha’s six days in Istanbul can now be seen on digital billboards around the world and on the international Veet TV advert.

Nisha said: “To put it mildly, it was an incredible experience and true to the nature of a big campaign, it was full of planning, full of changes, full of unexpected twists and turns, but as expected it was an amazing end product – and I discovered Adriana is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.”

When not styling international models for global advertising campaigns, Nisha provides personal styling services for women at the Love Niche Studio in Newcastle, which also offers bespoke and ready to wear outfits.
