Quorum lights up news offices with award-winning artwork
Quorum Business Park, Newcastle has selected an artist in residence for its newest building The Lightbox, whose artwork will be unveiled in the atrium to inspire staff and visitors over the coming weeks.
After launching a competition to find creative talent that could enhance the fresh and modern image of The Lightbox earlier this summer, the business park chose playful film footage by Northumbria University visual communications student Stephanie Simpson to reflect the colourful new building at the front of the park.
Spotted at Northumbria’s annual end of year degree shows REVEAL, Stephanie impressed the judges to win £1,000 and the opportunity to install an exhibition of her final year work, which will appear on Monday 27th July 2015 in the entrance to The Lightbox and will remain for the next year.
Stephanie said: “It was a wonderful surprise to win this opportunity with Quorum’s new building, The Lightbox. Aside from the recognition, the exposure it has brought my work on Quorum’s website and social media channels in terms of reaching a new audience in this exciting building is invaluable for an art graduate.
“I hope staff and visitors enjoy the film footage I have created throughout my degree, giving them a moment of reflection and creativity in their busy working days.“Laura Barber, events and sustainability manager at Quorum Business Park said: “We do a lot of work with regional partners at Quorum but this is the first year we’ve appointed an artist in residency to one of our buildings. It’s a great way of supporting the thriving arts community in the North and celebrating the unique and creative image of our new building, The Lightbox.”
The Lightbox is a contemporary building recently launched on Quorum Business Park after developers recognised a market need for greater flexibility with office space amongst the region’s businesses
Quorum is one of the largest and fastest growing business locations in the North East with over 500,000 sqft of office space and upwards of 5,000 jobs coming to the park over the last five years, giving a major boost to local jobs growth.
The park is already home to a host of first class companies and organisations including Balfour Beatty, Tesco Bank, Cofely, Fabricom, Aesica Pharmaceuticals and British Engines, and has been particularly successful at attracting headquarters functions.
