Peterlee training provider hosts successful Singapore training mission
Training provider Infinite Learning and Development (ILD) has delivered lean training for manufacturing students from Singapore, at the Caterpillar Learning Centre of Light in Peterlee.
The Peterlee-based firm delivered the programme for a second successive year, although this year grew its offering by taking on a greater number of students from the Institute of Technology in Singapore.
Last year, ILD delivered training to fifty four students but expanded its services to accommodate seventy two students this time around.
Visiting the Simulated Working Environment (SWE) at the Caterpillar site, as part of a partnership and structured programme of events organised by Newcastle University, the international students were exposed to first-hand experience of the daily problems they may encounter within a manufacturing environment
Since it’s opening 5 years ago, over 7000 delegates have been trained in the Caterpillar SWE in Lean organisation and Team building, from industries including Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Engineering, Food and Clothing.
Keith Corbett, ILD Operations Director, said: “The fact that the SWE has again been utilised by the Institute of Technology in Singapore, is a great endorsement for the training and the facilities in the area.”
Senior Lecturer Dr Kheng Lim Goh added: “The training that the students received on the Simulated Work Environment was excellent and really important, as manufacturing training and experience opportunities in Singapore are limited.”
