Mactech Welcomes Two Apprentices into the Fold

To assist in the development and growth of the company, Mactech Engineering and Inspection have recently recruited two Apprentices. The new employees, Nicole Forster and Kieran Herron, have joined the company on a two year programme that will enable them to develop skills and experience in their chosen business area.

Nicole, 18, has slotted into the company’s Resource Department with ease, saying “Everyone at Mactech has given me a warm welcome into the company. I hope to keep progressing and I am very excited about my future here.” Before commencing at Mactech, Nicole was studying for her A Levels, taking her last exam mid-June and being noted for her strong work ethic and attendance. Before that she gained good grades at GCSE, including in English Language, Mathematics and ICT, essential for any career.

Nicole has also achieved the National Grid Award where she completed charity events such as car wash fund raisers to raise money for charities.

The second apprentice, Kieran, expressed a strong interest in sales during the interview process and therefore his Apprenticeship is being formed around this business area. The 17 year old has recently completed a Uniformed Services course and is predicted a Level 2.

On first week with Mactech he undertook an NDT (Non Destructive Testing) Appreciation course, to enable him to understand one of the company’s key offerings. Of his start with the business Kieran stated “My first couple of weeks in the office have been great, everyone at Mactech has been kind, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the industry and are clear and concise when teaching me about it. I look forward to progressing with Mactech and getting a great kick start to my career with a company I am proud to be part of.”

Both Apprentices were recommended to Mactech by Key Training, having both taken part in one of the services recruitment days. During this both demonstrated key skills that are required within the work place, with Kieran contributing to group discussions and being able to sell his strengths and achievements during his one to one interview. Nicole proved to be a fantastic communicator with a confident personality.

Over the programme the pair will undertake in-depth training and development, enabling them to fully understand the energy sectors and the options that are available to them for their future careers.
