Anniversary Leaves a Lasting Legacy
In its anniversary year roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles are making their mark by raising £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care.
The company’s two Burton on Trent sites employ 70 plus its actory in Lochmaben employs 85 staff.
The cash was raised through three main events; staff football matches a staff fun day in Lochmaben and a staff sponsored weight loss this raised a total of £2,881.26. This was boosted by a donation of £200 by the daughter of the company’s founder, Mary Colburn giving a grand total of £3,081.26.
All of the staff joined colleagues at the Lochmaben factory to enjoy a family fun day in May, attended by around 220 staff and families. The tile factory yard was specially transformed by the team to create a venue appropriate for the festivities, including created an indoor area for the children’s entertainment. The Russell Roof Tiles sales team lost a massive 12 stone 7lbs in just nine weeks.
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles, comments; “This is a very special year for the business and 2015 marks a huge milestone for all our staff at our factories.
“We’re very pleased to be able to put something back to the local area and make a mark in this special anniversary year. Macmillan provide such excellent support for the local community - one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, and many of our staff have been touched by the disease.”
Debbie Rushbrook, Regional Fundraising Manager at Macmillan added “Thank you very much to Russell Roof Tiles, £3081 is a fantastic amount of money and are very grateful for their support; no one should have to face cancer alone and with support of firms like this they won`t have to”.
Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent manufacturer of tiles and fittings who this year celebrates 50 years at its Lockerbie plant and 25 years in Burton on Trent.
