Bah Humbugs Owner, Lucy, Short-listed for Women in Business Awards 2015
What started off as a conversation with friends reminiscing on sweets from their childhood, soon turned into a dream job. That is when Bah Humbugs opened in 2004; a Masham sweet shop in North Yorkshire and one of the best sweet shops online. Bah Humbugs sell a range of retro sweets, sweet jars, sweet hampers and sweet gifts.
So what makes Bah Humbugs so special apart from the extensive range of retro sweets? Could it be the beautiful location of Masham, a quaint town based in North Yorkshire with an array of shops, restaurants and bars, and for the real ale lovers, the hometown of Black Sheep Brewery? Well that is one of the reasons, but the main reason which makes any business a great success are the people who run the business.
Lucy who owns Bah Humbugs, is an inspiration to all small businesses and women, not only for how hard herself and the team work to keep the Masham sweet shop up and running, but also for the lengths she goes to to keep her customers happy. Lucy has built strong relationships with a number of customers and her followers on both her Twitter and Facebook accounts, interacting and engaging with users daily.
Her hard work hasn’t been unrecognised either, Lucy has been shortlisted for the 2015 Forward Ladies in Business Awards, which are sponsored by HSBC. Lucy has been shortlisted for two awards in Yorkshire and the North East – Online Business of the Year and Retail Business of the Year.
Karen Boswell, Chair of the judging panel and Managing Director of Hitachi Rail, said judging was a challenging process: “The standard of entries for this year’s Women in Business Awards was outstanding which made selecting the shortlist extremely difficult. This is a testament to the high quality of our female business leaders across Yorkshire who are helping the region’s economy grow and we look forward to bringing the best of these together for the regional awards ceremony where we will announce our winners.”
Winners from Yorkshire and the North East will meet the judges on 4th November 2015, followed by a ceremony on the 20th November at The Queens Hotel in Leeds for a national winners Glittering Awards Luncheon final. We are backing Lucy to make it to the national awards and have every hope that she will get to that stage with flying colours.
