Weldricks online pharmacy gains MHRA registration

South Yorkshire-based Weldricks Pharmacy is one of the first pharmacies in the UK to gain Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) registration and display an EU common logo designed to help members of the public identify websites that can legally sell medicines online.

The company applied for registration as soon as it was launched earlier this year and now displays the EU common logo at the foot of every page on its website. Anyone clicking on this logo will be taken to the online register of the national competent authority that lists all legally operating retailers in that country.

Explains Jackie Steel, operations manager for Weldricks: “Falsified medicines are a major threat to public health and safety. Unless consumers buy from a

legally-operating online medicine retailer, they run the risk of purchasing such medicines that are usually ineffective, substandard or dangerous.

“Any business selling medicines to the public via a website must be registered with MHRA and display the EU common logo on each page of a website that offers medicines for sale. The aim is to protect patients from these falsified medicines and enable them to identify trustworthy sites.

“Our customers’ health and wellbeing has always been our top priority and our online service is supervised by fully qualified pharmacists with all medicine sales authorised and checked before being despatched.”

Concludes Jackie: “This latest registration and EU common logo enable us to give our customers even further added protection and peace of mind and underlines our commitment to delivering the very highest possible standards of customer care and service. It represents yet another professional milestone for Weldricks and all of our staff.
