Green light for LCC Old Trafford hotel development
Lancashire County Cricket Club’s plans to build a new £15 million four-star hotel at its Emirates Old Trafford ground are set to go ahead.
The new hotel, to be built at the corner of Brian Statham Way and Talbot Road, would replace the current 68-bedroom Lodge.
Trafford Council has approved plans for the 150-bedroom scheme, and work is now set to start later this year. To be run by Hilton Garden Inn, the new venue is expected to open in the early part of 2017.
It will offer a restaurant, bar and The Pavilion Pantry, serving snacks throughout the day - as well as a ticket office - and will be linked to the neighbouring pavilion via a glazed bridge.
Rooms facing onto the pitch will command views across the pitch with access to a balcony and a terrace on match days.
LCC are now seeking to appoint a contractor to carry out the work.
The club secured £3 million towards the cost of the project by issuing a mini-bond last year –becoming the first cricket club to do so.
Lancs added further funding via £5 million from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and a £4 million loan from Trafford council, approved earlier this year.
