Work to start on former MMU Campus redevelopment
Plans for the £26 million redevelopment of the former MMU Campus in the heart of Didsbury have been unanimously approved by Manchester City Council.
Developers PJ Livesey Group will begin work on the 17 acre site to convert the Grade II and Grade II* listed buildings into houses and apartments and build 42 new luxury homes in the wooded grounds.
Group MD Peter Livesey said: “This is one of the most exciting schemes we have ever taken on and it has been wonderful to work with groups and individuals that share the same values of quality and heritage that we promote.
“We will start work as soon as possible on what will be a landmark for us and for the city.”
The main Administration Building will be converted into ten townhouses and 22 apartments with underground parking.
The Chapel will be converted into ten apartments again with underground parking.
The gatehouse Lodge will be a detached house with an extension and 801 and 803 Wilmslow Road will both be restored.
Forty two new properties will be built in clusters in the grounds. They will be a combination of detached and semi detached properties with allocated parking and private gardens ranging from three bedrooms to five bedrooms.
There will also be seven high-spec new-build apartments in a detached block with their own underground parking.
