Barratt pledges £100 from each reservation to Vulcan

Local housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are pledging £100 from every reservation in August to raise money to support XH558, the last airworthy Vulcan bomber, in its final year of flight. The donations, which will apply to every reservation made at their Woodlands Walk, Horizons and Pembridge Park developments in August, will help to raise vital funds for the Vulcan XH558, the last airworthy example of Great Britain’s famous aircraft, which is based at Doncaster’s Robin Hood airport.

With a variety of quality homes across all their Doncaster sites, and a number of buying schemes such as Help to Buy and Part Exchange available, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes’ developments have been popular with buyers. It is this continuing popularity which the local housebuilders hope will help to raise vital funds to keep the Vulcan in the air during its final flying season.

Michael Goodwin, sales manager at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, commented: “At Barratt and David Wilson Homes we are keen to ensure that we not only provide quality homes, but support local and community projects too. Since it was restored a few years ago, the Vulcan has been hugely popular in the local area, so we jumped at the chance to support the project in its last flying season. Our developments in Doncaster have been hugely popular with local buyers, so hopefully this will help us raise vital funds for Vulcan to the Sky Trust, to help the aircraft operate in its final few months in the skies.”

Dr Robert Plemming, chief executive of Vulcan to the Sky Trust added: “We rely on donations to keep the Vulcan flying, so we are really pleased that Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are pledging to donate money from every reservation in August. Due to the difficulty in continuing to maintain the aircraft, this will sadly be our last season, but these donations will help us go out on a high, and ensure more people get to experience the Vulcan in her true glory.”

The houses on offer at the developments include a range of 2,3,4 and 5 bedroom homes. For more information, or to find out how to reserve a home, visit www.barratthomes.co.uk and www.dwh.co.uk.
