Cash boost for Wiltshire charity

A Wiltshire charity that provides opportunities for young adults with learning difficulties has been gifted £1,000 by a leading developer.

Hope Nature Centre in Trowbridge received the donation from Persimmon Homes Wessex; as part of the builder’s Community Champions scheme.

The centre provides work placements for over 30 adults with learning disabilities catering for groups in a safe, disability friendly environment, which includes animals, a tea room and a play area.

Debbie Martindale, fundraising and marketing manager for the Hope Nature Centre, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received this donation from Persimmon Homes. The funds will go towards the money we are raising to provide specialist play equipment, so that disabled children are able to enjoy the same facilities as other children.

“Wiltshire Council does not own a specialist play area in the county and has written us a letter in support of the project. The installation will enable us to become a totally inclusive and disability friendly tourist attraction that would benefit the local and wider disabled community.”

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said the Community Champions scheme was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company works.

She said: “We are so pleased to hand over this donation to the Hope Nature Centre and are confident this funding will make a huge difference to the children and their families.

“We now want to hear from more clubs, groups and good causes as we look to allocate more funding over the next month. All we ask is that they have already worked hard to raise money themselves, and we will then match this effort with funding of up to £1,000.”
