Home furnishing retailer JYSK has chosen to open a store in Frenchgate Shopping Centre.

Scandinavian furniture brand attracted to Doncaster’s "retail environment"

A Scandinavian furniture giant has chosen Doncaster as the location for its its latest UK store after being attracted by the town’s “smaller, but busier retail environment.”

JYSK, the home furnishing retailer, will set up its new style, concept store in Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster after the South Yorkshire town became an area of “particular interest” to the international company.

This new concept store will offer customers a range of purchase options starting with the basic online purchase, in-store click and collect, buy-in-store and home delivery.

Karen Staniforth, Frenchgate marketing manager, said: “Doncaster is an excellent platform for JYSK to springboard themselves ahead of the competition within South Yorkshire, while bringing four new jobs to our town, too.

“The area was earmarked as an area of particular interest to JYSK, mainly due to the e-commerce success of its website within Doncaster and the surrounding areas.

“This coupled with the popularity of Frenchgate within the local community makes for a promising synergy between the two.

“We are very proud a global furniture giant such as JYSK has chosen our shopping centre to be home to its new store.”

Founded in Aarhus, Denmark by Lars Larsen in 1979, JYSK currently has more than 2,200 stores across 37 countries.

Steve Stenhouse, UK country manager for JYSK, added: “The Frenchgate store represents an exciting development for JYSK where we will increase exposure of our brand and put our best-selling garden products to the test in a smaller, but busier retail environment.”

The store has opened with an emphasis on garden furniture, offering savings of up to 50%, before switching to indoor furniture and sleeping products from mid-September.
