Middlesbrough residents given a Sporting Chance

A housing provider in Middlesbrough has been offering tenants aged over 50 a Sporting Chance to get more active and kick start a lead healthier lifestyle.

Residents from Endeavour Housing Association’s sheltered housing scheme, Rosedale Court, were visited by charity project Sporting Chance.

Sporting Chance – funded by the Big Lottery Fund – is a project delivered by Volunteering Matters and Middlesbrough Sports Development. The project is specifically aimed at men aged over 50 living in Middlesbrough.

The tenants were put through their paces with chair based exercises, indoor curling and bowling, this was all rounded off with a sports quiz.

Judith Warrior, scheme worker at Rosedale, said “We put a huge emphasis on supporting our tenants and the Sporting Chance project is a great way to help us all look after our health a bit more. The team really put the tenants through their paces and the guys loved it – even though they’re all exhausted now!

“Everyone has been asking for more follow up sessions, so hopefully we can work with Sporting Chance again.”

Rosedale Court is a sheltered housing scheme in Middlesbrough run by Endeavour Housing Association, part of North Star Housing Group. The scheme consists of 40, one and two bedroom, flats.
