Preston charity gets helping hand from Mulbury

The coffers of an award-winning Preston charity have been boosted after housing developer Mulbury Homes gave it a helping hand.

The Foxton Centre, which supports some of the city’s most vulnerable groups, has received a £500.00 donation from the company to help fund a variety of its community projects, while three of the company’s senior management team volunteered their time to serve hot food and wash dishes in the centre’s community cafe.

The centre, which also operates a food bank, provides a space for homeless people, rough sleepers and other vulnerable people to participate in training, arts and crafts and other social activities.

Mulbury Homes is currently developing affordable housing in Preston on land off New Hall Lane and decided to support The Foxton Centre as part of its Mulbury in the Community initiative.

Claire Morris, head of care at Mulbury Homes, said: “We were looking for good causes in Preston and when we heard about the excellent work of The Foxton Centre we were more than happy to offer our time and support.”

Mandy Stitt, of the Foxton Centre, added: “It was great to have the Mulbury team helping out in the kitchen, they got on brilliantly with our staff and customers. The donation is also very welcome and will go towards supporting the work we do to help people in Preston dealing with difficult times.”

Mulbury’s scheme at New Hall Lane is being constructed in three phases and will provide a mix of affordable housing and a 70-home extra-care facility aimed at older people in Preston.
