Engine control manufacturer looks to expand with Business Growth Hub support

Manchester firm AT Engine Controls is looking to expand into new markets after securing the support of Business Growth Hub (BGH).

The Worsley-based firm, which makes high-spec control equipment for the space, air, nuclear and oil sectors, called on BGH’s Executive Development Programme in an effort to break into new markets, including the rail sector.

The company, which has a turnover of £6.5m and currently employs 43 members of staff, is also hoping to grow its gas, oil and nuclear offering.

In addition to training capital, the BGH programme provided AT Engine Controls with support for its sales manager and assisted the firm with changes made to its sales team.

AT Engine Controls’ HR business partner, Beverley Abdulla, said: “Our newly structured sales team is a vital asset to our business as we look to break into new markets.

“Training our sales team is helping our business and the Executive Development Programme means we can now focus on growing our firm.”

AT Engine Controls recently joined PM David Cameron on his trade visit to South East Asia, along with representatives from companies such as automaker Rolls Royce and aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

Business Growth Hub’s executive development manager, Dawn Duggan, commented: “For businesses like AT Engine Controls, training senior staff is vital. This new team is allowing the business to look for new opportunities, to expand the business both overseas and here in the UK.

“Business Growth Hub provides invaluable training support and we are confident that the new sales team will add significant value over the coming months.”
