Everton FC’s Official Charity Fundraising Event

One of the UK’s leading sporting charities, Everton in the Community are raising money this Friday 27th August 2015 in memory of local boy, 16 year old David James Ross.

Sadly, David passed away on 18th March 2015. So, in order to keep his memory alive and do some good in the local community he loved so much, his mum, Shirley set upThe David James Ross Foundation.

The charity’s aims are to to raise money in David’s name – known to his friends as Rossy – for local charities close to his heart. As football was one of David’s biggest passions, most of the money from the event raised will be going towards sports related charities, but also a range of other worthy charities including counselling group, Listening Ear in Halewood and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The thinking behind Everton in the Community, which is Everton FC’s official charity, is to support the most vulnerable members of the community and to improve lives. Employing over 300 staff from full-time, casual and voluntary, the charity supports over 60 projects within the community covering a range of issues from health, youth engagement, and disability to name just a few.

Everton in the Community has a huge support base, including high profile Patrons and Trustees ranging from famous celebrities to local spokespeople in business and health as well as other valuable industries, such as Dame Judi Dench, Lady Harriet Carter, Sir John Jones, and Everton legend, Graeme Sharp.

Ste Wynne, a Youth Engagement Mentor at Everton in the Community, says:

“As part of the NCS project Everton In the Community run, participants take part in a social action project were the youngsters decide on a charity event. They pick a charity of their choice and put a plan together. A couple of youngsters approached me and they have decided to run a charity fun day for The David James Ross Foundation this Friday 12pm-3pm“
