Meadowhall Celebrates 25 Years With Weekend of Celebrations

Meadowhall will toast 25 successful years as Yorkshire’s largest shopping centre in spectacular style this September as it gears up for a three day celebration; and EVERYONE is invited.

Friday 4th September will see the centre come alive with entertainment and activities to celebrate their 25th year - exactly 9,125 days since it first opened its doors back in 1990 – when its iconic main dome will play host to performances from aerial acts, Bollywood dancers and musical delights to name just a few.

The opening event will take place at the main dome at 12noon on Friday 4th with repeat performances taking place every day over the weekend at 1pm, 2pm & 3pm, making sure everyone gets to see a piece of the action.

Centre Director Darren Pearce said ahead of the birthday weekend: “We hope that every visitor to Meadowhall over this very special weekend will get to see and enjoy something that is linked to our celebrations and add to the spirit of the occasion.”

As well as the endless list of mall entertainment visitors will even have the chance to become a world record breaker when GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS LIVE! set up camp at the center on Saturday 5th September which is sure to gather some crowds to match the party atmosphere.

Also being revealed for the first time will be the results of the shopping centre’s unique art project ‘we’re all hearts’ which are going to be displayed throughout the centre from Friday 4th September - uniting a variety of charities, community groups and partners.

Darren concluded: “September 4th is a celebration of bringing people together for 25 years - and everyone is invited! The day itself and following weekend has a full and fun packed agenda for all the family to enjoy; so do join us if you can, and here’s to the next 25 years at Meadowhall.”
