Upcoming SAFC charity breakfast to help Crook businesses
Foundation of Light, the registered charity of Sunderland AFC, is hosting a breakfast event in Crook to help local businesses get the most out of their services.
Taking place 10th September at St.Catherine’s Community Centre, Crook, the event gives members of the local business community the chance to find out about how the charity’s work will improve the area, as well as learn about opportunities for them to share in its success.
Foundation of Light has helmed award-winning Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives that have reduced youth anti-social behaviour by up to 80% in other areas across the North East.
The charity also operates an award-winning employability programme that has helped over 40% of participants into work.
The event will also be an opportunity for Crook-based businesses to network and make new contacts in a relaxed atmosphere.
Speaking about the event, Mark Pae, Foundation of Light Operations Manager North and Central Durham commented, “We’ve had great success working in partnership with the local business community in other areas and we’re looking to bring that success to Crook.
“I would encourage people from businesses of all sizes, no matter how big or small, to come along and find out what we’re about and our plans for the area. We work with businesses of all sizes in a broad variety of ways so there’s probably more opportunities than people think and we would love to get some feedback from those who would like to see the area thrive.”

The Business Breakfast event in Crook is being supported by Foundation of Light outreach partner Home Group.
Structurally and financially independent of Sunderland AFC, Foundation of Light relies on fundraising for over 90% of project costs every year.
