£40k Westway Veterinary Group expansion reaches completion
Westway Veterinary Group, the Newcastle-based veterinary group, has completed a £40k expansion of its headquarters.
Building work to create a new waiting room, two extra consulting rooms and a bigger treatment room at Westway’s animal hospital on West Road, Newcastle, has now been completed.
The new facilities will enable the practice to keep cats and small animals separate from dogs while they are waiting to see a vet, and to handle an increase in patients as the veterinary group continues to grow.
Westway, which also owns Easyvets and Value Vets, has 23 surgeries and employs 35 vets right across the North East, from Newcastle to Darlington, making it region’s biggest veterinary business.
Managing Director Nick Myerscough said: “We have become too busy for our existing waiting room so we needed more space and more consulting rooms.
“We have taken over the lease on half of a shop next door and fitted it out to improve facilities. Dogs need to be segregated from cats and smaller animals so it will make it much better for clients and their pets.
“The extra consulting rooms and bigger treatment room will cut down on waiting times and enable our vets to see sick pets much more quickly.”
Westway plan to mark the expansion with an open evening on Wednesday, September 9 at 7pm. As well as clients, local dog groomers, walkers, house sitters and pet shops will be invited to the official opening.
