Doncaster’s Frenchgate Shopping Centre to welcome Ed’s Easy Diner
The Frenchgate Limited Partnership has announced that Ed’s Easy Diner will open a 2,600 sq ft restaurant in the Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster, during the Christmas period.
Located in a prominent location on Frenchgate’s South Central Square on the upper level, Ed’s new Diner is being created through the relocation and upsizing of two existing Frenchgate brands, Blue Inc. and Garage Shoes.
Blue Inc. has opened a 3,130 sq ft store located on Upper South Mall, opposite to Next, Pandora and Argento, which is almost twice as large as the brand’s previous unit.
Furthermore, Garage Shoes is relocating to Upper North Mall, joining Waterstones, Lush and Starbucks in a 930 sq ft store.
Frenchgate’s three latest additions bring the total of number of new lettings to 22 in the last 12 months, totalling almost 65,000 sq ft of space. Retail highlights include a 15,776 sq ft New Look, a 5,032 sq ft Roman Originals, a 4,159 sq ft Quiz, a 921 sq ft Pandora, a 420 sq ft Argento, a 3,000 sq ft Clinton Cards, and a 1,750 sq ft Holland and Barrett.
Other new dining options that have moved into Frenchgate include the 5,887 sq ft family restaurant and pub, The Mallard, part of Greene King’s Hungry Horse chain. Georgian Café, an independent operator, has also opened a 1,300 sq ft café, its second in the town, Burger King has relocated and upsized to create a 2,400 sq ft restaurant, and Juice has launched in a 580 sq ft kiosk on South Central Square.
The catering additions also follow the reconfiguration of the Food Mall earlier this year.
Commenting on the news on behalf of The Frenchgate Limited Partnership, Paul Devlin said: “Ed’s Easy Diner is an exciting new addition to Frenchgate’s line-up, and crowns a very successful 12 months for the centre. Completing 22 lettings in a year is a testament to Frenchgate’s dominant position in its extensive catchment. The centre offers a combination of choice and convenience that gives consumers great confidence all of their shopping and leisure needs will be met. This is reflected in Frenchgate’s strong sales and footfall performance, which is driving demand from a significant number of new brands.”
Andrew Guy, CEO of Ed’s Easy Diner, added: “Frenchgate is a fantastic opportunity for Ed’s Easy Diner and we are very pleased to be opening in the centre. Frenchgate is the heart of shopping in Doncaster, and its impressive line-up of brands is very popular with consumers. We were attracted by its position as the leading destination, combined with such a prominent location that captures the centre’s high footfall, and look forward to bringing our unique and authentic American food to the town.”
Rawstron Johnson and Time Retail Partners acted for Frenchgate. Syteways represented Ed’s Easy Diner. Brasier Freeth and Dresler Smith acted for Blue Inc. and Garage Shoes respectively.
