Newcastle startup hub Campus North reveals exciting expansion
Campus North, the Newcastle-based tech hub, has revealed that it will open a bigger events space right next door to its current location in Carliol Square. Complete with a coffee shop named ‘The Bunker’, ‘Underground’ will be opening in October.
Already home to the much lauded Ignite100 accelerator programme, Campus North supports startups, freelancers and remote workers who hotdesk at the tech HQ.
After opening in June last year, Campus North has since established itself as a collaborative community with teaching space, meeting rooms and running a range of events from business conferences to coding classes for kids.
The expansion will give opportunities for more people to get involved, with a wider range of events for children, businesses and people new to technology. Underground will also be available to hire for events, conferences and meetings.
The first month will include a week of women focused events and speakers from 12 October then, during half term, a week of sessions aimed at children and young people.
Lyndsey Britton, Campus North Co-Founder, said “Campus North has established itself as the place for sharing knowledge and expertise, building a strong community and supporting the north east start up scene. Over the past year we’ve developed a range of regular events, classes and meet ups.
“We’re really excited about expanding. The new space Underground means we can offer more opportunities to a wider audience. We want more businesses, women, young people and people from all different backgrounds to get involved.”
Other events planned for Underground include monthly network meetings, training and upskilling sessions, support for small businesses and freelancers, and regular expert speakers from all over the globe.
