Bilfinger GVA Manchester School of Art Photography Competition

Entries are in and public voting is now open to find this year’s winners of the Bilfinger GVA Open Photography Competition in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).

Launched last year, the annual competition was established to encourage and support the development of new photography talent in the North West. The competition will see Manchester School of Arts students compete for Photographer of the Year title, together with Best Portfolio of Work.

Based upon the theme ‘Unseen: Re-discovering Manchester’, the competition has opened two categories for the first time, Best Portfolio and Best Single Image, with the brief to focus on properties in the city of Manchester and its suburbs that demonstrate the array of architectural structures, cityscapes and hidden building gems.

The nine shortlisted photographers’ portfolios will be showcased and the winners announced at Bilfinger GVA’s Manchester Annual Drinks Reception, being held on 15th October 2015 at The National Football Museum.

Mark Rawstron, Regional Senior Director, Bilfinger GVA Manchester, said: “It is a privilege to once again join with one of the region’s leading education institutions to establish the annual competition, which highlights some of the talent being honed here in Manchester.

“The competition offers the photography students an opportunity to experience working to a commercial brief, with direct access to the region’s business organisations. We look forward to announcing the outcome of the votes at our drinks reception and wish all the photographers the best of luck.”
