Newcastle-based recruitment startup aims to find the future of finance talent
Shortlist Accountancy, a recruitment business servising the accountancy and finance sector, has launched in Newcastle.
Formerly of Hays Accountancy & Finance and Nigel Wright, 27 year old director Fred Punter is no stranger to the North East’s recruitment and financial circles and is relishing the opportunity to grow his new venture.
He said: “Personally, I felt like I could never reach my potential working as a consultant for an agency. Professionally, I felt that I could better serve my clients and candidates by being fully in control of the recruitment process and working in a manner that may not fit the traditional agency environment.”
Receiving support from a host of North East organisations prior to launch, Fred revealed: “During setting up I took a lot of advice from various quarters such as Project NE, NCL University Careers service and friends in the industry.”
Currently Fred acts as the company’s director and sole employee although co-owns the business with a recruitment investor. The company recently made its first placement who started work on September 1st and is planning to hire an apprentice before the end of the year, to help Fred cope with quick growing demand for the company’s services.
Fred, the youngest majority owner of a professional recruitment business in the North East, went on to add: “I take pride in thinking outside the box to fill vacancies that others may give up on! In addition, I specialise in identifying future of finance talent.
“I am CIMA certificate student myself and network heavily with the candidates I believe in the next 10 or so years will be the leaders of finance in the region.”
