Bardsley Construction secures contract for multi-million pound Salford care facility
Greater Manchester firm Bardsley Construction has been appointed by City West Housing Trust to build a multi-million pound care facility in Salford.
The contract will see Dukinfield-based Bardsley construct a £6.5m, three-storey extra care facility in Walkden on the site formerly known as Ninian Gardens.
Work on the project, which has been designed by North West firm John McCall Architects and comprises 56 apartments along with communal facilities, is due for completion in October next year.
The latest contract is the second such scheme awarded to Bardsley by City West, as the firm built a 66-bed complex in Little Hulton, West Salford, on behalf of the housing trust last year.
Bardsley Construction’s procurement director, Ged Rooney, said: “The award of this latest contract by City West shows we continue to build on our hard-earned reputation for outstanding works for the public sector with a strong emphasis on collaborative partnerships with clients including housing associations, local authorities, education bodies and health authorities.”
Bardsley also previously won a £3.5m City West contract for 35 affordable homes in Salford, as part of the Barton Village regeneration project, the first and second phases of which will be complete in January 2016.
City West is a group member of ForViva, which owns 14,600 homes.
ForViva’s director of investment and regeneration, Nigel Sedman, said: “We are very pleased to be working again with Bardsley on the Bourke Gardens project, which will be our second extra care scheme delivered through this partnership and provide customers with much needed high quality extra care accommodation.”
