Birmingham business recovery specialists to tackle cycle challenge for charity
A team of Birmingham business recovery specialists are set to test their strength, determination and stamina during a cycle challenge in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
A 14-strong team of staff from Poppleton & Appleby is hoping to show off their pedal power by clocking up 130 miles during an epic eight-hour challenge.
On Thursday, September 17 the team will swap their desks for static bikes which will be installed at the firm’s Birmingham office on Ludgate Hill in the city centre.
The fundraising event has been organised to mark Poppleton & Appleby’s landmark 130th anniversary and the firm is encouraging other local business contacts, friends and clients to get involved.
All of the proceeds raised will be donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital which supports thousands of children and families across the UK.
Matt Hardy of Poppleton & Appleby which also has an office based in Coventry, said: “Our staff and volunteers will be pushing the boundaries to raise money for a fantastic cause.
“Two static bikes will be installed at the office and competitors will take it in turns, cycling from 9am until 5pm, to try to reach the golden 130 mile target.
“We really wanted to organise a big charity event to celebrate our anniversary year and we were not short of volunteers, with staff offering to hop on a bike and commit to the mammoth cycle.
“They are all looking forward to tackling the challenge but we also want to encourage other business contacts, friends and family interested in taking part to get in touch.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Birmingham Children’s Hospital and have raised money for the charity over a number of years and even took part in their abseil event earlier this year.
“Hopefully we will all have enough energy left to celebrate our achievement at our networking event which will take place at Locanta which is located near the office on the evening.”
