Clarity Travel Management lands £200m government contract
Clarity Travel Management has secured a new nine-figure contract that could save taxpayers millions.
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has appointed the Manchester-based travel services firm to provide accommodation and travel for nominated departments of central government.
By awarding the three-year contract, which is potentially worth up to £201m, the government hopes to make a saving of up to £50m.
Clarity Travel Management’s CEO, Pat McDonagh, said: “The strict criteria for travel within central government departments will provide a challenge that we are more than ready to meet.
“The win is a nod towards not just our market-leading systems, but also the infrastructure of our business which is perfectly geared to manage the extensive security elements involved.”
A total of four contracts were up for grabs, as the CCS has opted to split the provision up to give government departments access to cheaper travel rates and make civil servants’ travel more sustainable.
Matt Denham, the CCS’ commercial delivery director, commented: “This shift away from traditional frameworks to separate contracts is an excellent example of how the government is reshaping its commercial approach to deliver savings for taxpayers while making the way government runs more efficient.”
Clarity Travel Management is expecting to deliver its services in a month’s time.
The CCS contract follows over £26m worth of business won by Clarity in the first half of the year. The other three CCS contracts were snapped up by West Yorkshire firm Redfern Travel, Leeds-based Calder Conferences Ltd and Hogg Robinson Group, a corporate services company headquartered in Basingstoke.
