Retired Saints player cuts ribbon at new Arco store opening

Tradesmen from across Liverpool came to the city’s Erskine Industrial Estate recently to see former professional rugby player Paul Sculthorpe MBE cut the ribbon at the official opening of the new Arco safety gear and workwear store.

Paul, who started his career with Warrington Wolves before playing for St Helens RFC for 11 years, attended the event on behalf of Trojan Workwear, the official workwear partner of the Saints.

Trojan’s brand and sponsorship manager, Lee Morton, said: “The opening of this new outlet in Liverpool has extended Arco’s national network to 46 UK stores which has helped us in our goal of making TROJAN footwear and clothing more accessible to local business and tradesmen.

“The partnership with St Helens gives us the perfect platform to showcase our hard-wearing, durable gear to the tradesmen and SME marketplace. Just like the players, we know what it takes to work hard and tackle the toughest jobs.”

He added: “The attendance of Paul Sculthorpe and the Saints merchandise available to win helped draw a great crowd for the opening.”

The new 5,600 sq ft Arco store stocks Trojan products as well as other brands of safety gear, such as hard hats, gloves and outdoor clothing.

St Helens RFC’s general manager, Dave Hutchinson, said: “We are delighted to see our official partners, TROJAN Workwear working alongside the Saints family.

“The similarities between our game and the brand go hand-in-hand with their tough, hard-working attributes.”
